The beautiful and vivacious Charlotte Salter fails to turn up at her husband Alec's 50th birthday party. He soon becomes the prime suspect as secrets of their unhappy marriage come to light.
Now
Charlotte's four children are reunited for the first time since the events of thirty years ago, helping their father transition into a care home. Haunted by their past, the siblings become embroiled in a podcast resurrecting the strange events surrounding their mother's disappearance.
Will the truth finally be revealed, or will the Salters be confined to the shadows which plague them?
'Has anyone seen Charlotte Salter?' is the latest novel by acclaimed writing duo Nicci Gerrard and Sean French, aka 'Nicci French'. This stunningly crafted crime novel balances clever and gripping plotting with finely wrought portrayals of pain, loss and isolation; the book sings its story from start to finish.
Each character feels like an old friend, yet all are unique. Their relationships are played out in a devastating yet honest way, providing a glimpse into the lives of families torn apart by unthinkable events.
The final chapters had me completely under their spell: twisty, yet sensitive, the ending is at once shocking, sad and satisfying.
This was my first time reading a Nicci French novel, and it certainly lived up to its praise; if you love the nineties, missing persons books and gripping writing, then this is the book for you!
Find out what really happened to Charlotte Salter this Saturday the 13th July at the Newark Book Festival, where Nicci French will join Tammy Cohen and Fiona Cummins in a Spies and Thrillers event not to be missed. Get your tickets here.
