Hello, my name is Ella (@bookishly_ella) and I am the writer and creator of 'A Blog of One's Own'.
I am a neurodivergent and queer young woman who is passionate about all things books, words and literature. I can almost always be found curled up with a cup of (decaf) tea and a novel, or wearing in my Doc Martens collection on a walk to the library.

I was inspired to create my blog after some big life changes which allowed me to dedicate lots of time to exploring book-related projects. Putting my own writing out into the world has always been a dream of mine, but as autistic and queer voices like mine are often silenced, I have struggled to find a place where I feel that my words would be accepted and feel at home. So, I decided to bypass the gatekeeping, and create a space of my own to share my writing: here's the result!

'A Blog of One's Own' plays on the title 'A Room of One's Own' by Virginia Woolf, which remains one of my most beloved reads. Her message of women needing both a literal and metaphorical 'room of [their] own' resonated with me and my journey to create this blog, as well as some of Woolf's own experiences.

I hope that you enjoy this space as much I as enjoy writing for it. You can find out more about me by clicking on the button below to read my first post 'Frequently Asked Bookish Questions: About Me' or by following me on Instagram @bookishly_ella
